Mr Uri Hanegbi is an experienced Urological Surgeon with a particular interest in the management of Prostate Cancer, benign prostate enlargement and kidney stones.
The full spectrum of prostate cancer treatments are offered by Mr Hanegbi, so that each patient can undergo the therapy which best suits their individual requirements. A comprehensive range of therapeutic modalities is available including robotic radical prostatectomy, open radical prostatectomy and brachytherapy (radioactive seed implantation). Mr Hanegbi gained expertise in performing these treatments through training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where he undertook a Urologic Oncology Fellowship. He has also undertaken further training in the United States, gaining experience in nerve sparing radical prostatectomy, robotic surgery and brachytherapy.
Benign prostate enlargement is treated by a variety of medical and minimally invasive surgical techniques, depending on the patient’s specific Urological condition. In many patients surgical intervention is not indicated and Mr Hanegbi is able to guide patients in their decision making process.
Management of Kidney stones (Renal Calculi) is a particular area of subspecialty interest to Mr Hanegbi. He offers the full range of treatment options for renal calculi, with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques including lithotripsy (shock waves), percutaneous renal surgery, ureteroscopy and laser. Nearly all stones can be dealt with as a day case.
As part of Mr Hanegbi’s commitment to education and ongoing professional development, he is a Senior Monash University Lecturer and is involved in the selection, education and assessment of Urological Trainees.
