Australian Urology Associates and COVID 19 – Temporary changes to service provision.
Management of appointments
We are committed to the health and safety of our patients, our staff and our Doctors, and to help reduce the spread of COVID 19. As such we have temporarily made some changes to our practice process for patient care.
Your ongoing personal health care is extremely important to us and we encourage you to continue to seek appointments with your healthcare providers.
In line with Government and Health Department guidelines we have extended most of our consultations to Tele medicine.
We offer a range of options to our patients including landline calls, and video consultation.
In some circumstances individuals may still need to see a healthcare provider face to face. By prior arrangement this service is available to our patients, with social distancing in place.
To make an appointment please call our office between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Management of surgical procedures
Governments both Federal and State have instructed all surgeons to cease all elective non-urgent surgery in order to preserve the vital personal protective equipment required to treat COVID patients.
However diagnostic procedures for possible cancers, and surgery for higher risk urological cancers, symptomatic urinary stones and for complete urinary blockages are not considered elective procedures.
The urologists at Australian Urology Associates will continue to assess, and determine the need for any urgent procedures, discuss in multi-disciplinary meetings, or where appropriate review by surgical colleagues’, and balance the risks of proceeding with surgery at this time against community requirements and other risks to your health.
It remains vitally important that whilst patients and health care workers are anxious about COVID-19, it is important not to allow serious conditions to remain undiagnosed and untreated during this outbreak which could also cause harm.
Whilst many assessments can be deferred safely, others may not and your health practitioners ranging from general practitioners to your specialists will be in the best position to counsel you on the risks and benefits.
We continue to provide a 24 hour on call service to our patients and healthcare providers.
For after-hours urgent healthcare issues please call our paging service on 93871000 and our on-call Doctor will return your call.
